Both yoga and Pilates are forms of movement that not only involve just the physical body, but also require focus and concentration. Usually you will find these two practices under the listing of "body-mind" classes. The reason for this is because unlike certain typical gym routines where the mind can easily wander and be thinking of a million other things other than what you are doing, yoga and Pilates requires complete integration of body with mindfulness.
Sometimes yoga and Pilates can seem impossible to learn, but know that they are both accessible to everyone. Anyone can benefit from it. It does take some practice and patience, but it is well worth it. Not only do you receive physical benefits, but you learn how to become more patient with yourself and accepting of what your body is trying to tell you. Because you purposely slow down, you have to pay attention.
You do not need any special equipment to begin to learn other than a yoga mat and some simple props.
